The Golden State Warriors are expected to be one of the strongest teams heading into the 2020-21 NBA season. They will make a highly anticipated 100% return after a lousy 2019-20 NBA season.
Due to their poor performance last season, they were awarded the second overall pick in the 2020 NBA Draft. Additionally, the Warriors are taking steps to improve their roster in free agency.
Golden State Warriors transactions: Players signed through trades and free agency
Even before free agency began, the Warriors wisely used their No. 2 overall pick. They recruited standout prospect James Wiseman to fifth for them.
Wiseman is expected to be one of the best players in this draft class, and he couldn’t have asked for a better team to be selected.
Aside from Wiseman, the Dubs acquired two players in the second round. Nico Mannion (pick # 48) and Justinian Jessup (pick # 51) are the two guards the franchise has put its trust in. However, his biggest acquisition is definitely Wiseman.
Aside from these young prospects, the Dubs also acquired Kelly Oubre Jr. through a trade. They handed over a protected top 20 first-round pick in exchange for the 24-year-old.

Additionally, the Warriors also signed two free agents from the open market. Guards Brad Wanamaker and Kent Bazemore signed 1-year contracts with the team.
The Warriors would need some of their bench players to fill the void left by their superstar Klay Thompson. Thompson’s Achilles injury will keep him on the sidelines for the entire season, which is heartbreaking for the Dub Nation.
Lost players
In addition to Klay being out due to the gruesome injury, the franchise resigned guard Ky Bowman after just one year of service. Other than him, the Warriors haven’t lost any of their players thus far.

But one might wonder if the glory days for the team are over. Thompson’s absence will put a heavy load on Stephen Curry’s shoulders. Curry himself is making a comeback after being out of the game for most of the season due to a hand injury.
Whatever the case, the team would need the entire roster to work hard if they are to reach the top of the Western Conference.
