The Philippine National Police are investigating the motive for the murder of former Jolo Police Chief Walter Annayo on Saturday. Annayo was relieved of her post to take command responsibility after her Sulu men and police officers shot dead four army intelligence officers at a checkpoint in June. Police Brig. General Ildebrandi Usana, a PNP spokesman, said the case “is now under investigation by the BARMM regional police office.” Annayo was shot and killed on Saturday along the Narciso Ramos highway in Barangay Macabiso, Sultan Mastura town in Maguindanao. –Jeannette I.
