Labor Secretary Silvestre Bello III ordered a workplace safety inspection of the Skyway extension project after a construction accident killed at least one person and injured four others on Saturday. A steel girder or support girder from a portion of the Skyway highway in Muntinlupa fell on vehicles on the East Service Road. The Skyway EEI Corp. contractor said a crane that was being positioned for its next task tipped and fell onto the beam. “I ordered an inspection to see if they meet occupational health and safety standards,” Bello said Sunday. –Dona Z.
