FOUR bandits from Abu Sayyaf have surrendered to the government in Sulu provinces, military officials said on Sunday, November 22, 2020.

Lieutenant General Corleto Vinluan, Jr., commander of the Western Mindanao Command (Westmincom), identified the Abu Sayyaf surrender as the following: Radzmel Said alias Amil, 27; Serhamal Bahjin Alli, 28; Muknan Hadjirudin, 43; and Sali Kadil Ammad, 21.

Vinluan said the four surrendered around 9 a.m. on Saturday, November 21, 2020 to troops from the 6th Special Forces Battalion in Buhanginan village, Patikul.

During questioning, Vinluan said that the four Abu Sayyaf surrendered revealed that their group was greatly weakened by the neutralization of their leaders and comrades.

As a gesture of sincerity, the four turned in their firearms, which include three American-made M1 Garand 30-caliber caliber clips each loaded with eight rounds of ammunition; and an M-16 Armalite rifle with a short magazine loaded with 10 rounds of ammunition.

“The successful surrender was made possible by the relentless massive base operations of our soldiers and intelligence operatives,” said Lieutenant Colonel Rafael Caido, acting commander of the 6th Special Forces Battalion.

Subsequently, the Abu Sayyaf surrender were presented to Brigadier General Ignatius Patrimonio, commander of the 1102nd Infantry Brigade, at the unit’s headquarters at Camp Bud Datu in Tagbak village, Indanan.

Heritage is pleased to note that the four of them decided to give themselves up to live a peaceful life.

He said the surrender of the four is a demonstration that the 1102nd Infantry Brigade is on the right track in its desire to end terrorism in Patikul.

“Help us inform the remaining members of the ASG (Abu Sayyaf Group) to do the same while it is not too late for them. Together, let us regain peace and progress in Sulu, of which we can all be proud, ”he told the four Abu Sayyaf deliverables.

Major General William Gonzales said that military action will be taken on an ongoing basis while non-military actions are also intensifying to address security challenges in Sulu province. (SunStar Zamboanga)
