PSC will send aid to national athletes affected by ‘Ulises’
The Philippine Sports Commission (PSC) is sending financial aid to members of the national team affected by Typhoon Ulysses.
In a statement, the government sports agency said it has coordinated with national sports associations (NSAs) regarding the status of their athletes during the typhoon.
Among the reports they have received come from the Philippine Canoe Kayak-Dragonboat Federation, whose athletes and trainers reside near the waterways in Rizal.
So far, the PSC has tallied 57 athletes and coaches from nine sports who have been evacuated or lost their homes due to the typhoon.
PSC President Butch Ramirez said they are accelerating the process of releasing financial support and monitoring the conditions of all athletes and coaches.
“It may not be substantial, but we will do everything we can to help them,” Ramírez said.
The executive director of the PSC, Atty Guillermo Iroy Jr, also said that they are waiting for the final report of NSA Affairs to finalize everything.
