The former chief of the Jolo Provincial Police Office was shot dead when he got out of his vehicle on the Narciso Ramos highway in Maguindanao on the afternoon of Saturday, November 21, 2020.
A report from Sultan Mastura, Maguindanao Police Station, said the gunmen were aboard a sport utility vehicle. They fled towards the city of Parang.
Police Lt. Col. Walter Annayo suffered gunshot wounds to the head and various parts of his body when he was attacked around 1:45 pm on Saturday. He died instantly.
Annayo was relieved of her post in Jolo in the wake of the shooting that killed four members of military intelligence personnel at a police checkpoint on June 29, 2020.
He was administratively charged for the incident and assigned to the Regional Personnel Retention Administrative Office at the Bangsamoro Regional Police Office (PRO).
PNP spokesman Brigadier General Ildebrandi Usana said that Bangsamoro PRO has launched an investigation.
“The CPNP itself (Philippine National Police Chief Debold Sinas) has commissioned the regional police director to investigate the case,” he said in a statement.
“For now, the PNP cannot clarify, much less release any results on the motive behind it, not even the connection with his previous assignment as police chief of the Jolo police station where the case of the alleged shooting is located. between police and military. it happened last July.
