MANILA, Philippines – Former Jolo, Sulu Police Chief Lt. Col. Walter Annayo, who is facing cases for the June 29 fatal shooting of four army intelligence officers, was shot and killed in Sultan Mastura, Maguindanao on Saturday. in the afternoon.

In an initial report from the Maguindanao Provincial Police Office, Annayo, 41, had just parked her car to buy buko (coconut water) juice along the Narciso Ramos road in Barangay Macabiso when an unidentified gunman aboard a white Toyota Fortuner, he was shot in the head and body.

Police said Annayo was killed on the spot. The incident occurred around 1:45 pm

To recall, Annayo was administratively relieved after nine of his men were involved in the fatal shooting of four soldiers on June 29 in Jolo.

After his release, Annayo was assigned to the Administrative Office of the Regional Police Office in the Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao.

Meanwhile, the Jolo municipal government also sent its condolences to Annayo’s heartbroken family.
