The holiday season got brighter when Araneta City and some of the most favorite stars came together, practically this time, and lit up the iconic giant Christmas tree at City of Firsts on November 14.
This long-awaited Christmas tradition, now in its 39th year, brought some Christmas cheer everywhere with the Araneta town Christmas theme “Comfort and Joy in the Town of the First.”
“We understand how the pandemic has affected everything, including how we will welcome and celebrate Christmas. We want to offer a vacation comfort to the public in the safety of our stores or their homes. And through this virtual Christmas tree lighting, we hope to bring joy and hope this season, ”said Marjorie Go, AVP Marketing Araneta City.
The event went online for the first time and streamed via YouTube or Facebook starting at 5 p.m. It was hosted by singer Anna Ramsey for the pre-event show and TV host Robi Domingo for the main show.
Celebrating the event are Tawag ng Tanghalan champion Janine Berdin, The Voice Teens alumnus Jeremy Glinoga, and box office star Vice Ganda performed virtually and joined in the tree lighting ceremony. Araneta City also partnered with Coke Studios to bring in independent band December Avenue to create the Christmas atmosphere at the virtual event.
Netizens who tuned in to the entire show had a chance to win an entertainment showcase, Christmas Eve packages, and other exciting prizes.
“Although the tree lighting event is going to be digitized this year as a safety measure, the public can still visit the giant Christmas tree at the Times Square Food Park along General Roxas Avenue at any time this season to take a drink. Christmas photos and selfies, ”Go said.
