Klay Thompson has a serious lower leg injury and is not looking good for the Golden State Warriors’ five-time All-Star guard.
The Golden State Warriors fanbase was very excited to see Klay Thompson return to the court in just over a month. Then, just hours before the draft, the Warriors and fans around the world learned that he might have an Achilles rupture.
You know it’s bad when members of the organization head from San Francisco to Los Angeles to be there with Klay when he gets his MRI done. Let’s say they don’t expect good results.
It’s been almost 18 months since Thompson’s initial injury, and that rehab has to be mentally exhausting. It will potentially set you up for another tedious road ahead. That said, ESPN’s Ramona Shelburne noted that she’ll have an MRI tomorrow.
It’s devastating for a player who finished the 2018-2019 season with a torn ACL. He had five consecutive All-Star appearances until that. He has had an impressive career so far with five consecutive seasons averaging more than 20 points per game.
He has also shot more than 40 percent from deep in each of his league seasons. Being one of the best defenders too, it won’t be easy to complement Thompson’s impact. With that said, let’s dive into three ways it will affect the Warriors going forward.
