MANILA, Philippines – Typhoon Ulysses has so far left about P5.7 billion in damage to infrastructure after hitting Luzon, the National Council for Disaster Risk Reduction and Management said on Wednesday (November 18).

The destruction was recorded in the regions of Ilocos, Valle de Cagayán, Central Luzón, Calabarzón, Mimaropa, Bicol, Cordillera and the National Capital Region.

Damage to agriculture was pegged at P2.9 billion in the same areas, the NDRRMC said.

The official death toll stood at 73, while 19 were still missing and the number of injured was 24.

President Rodrigo Duterte has declared a state of calamity across the island of Luzon following a series of typhoons that hit the country.

A declaration of a state of calamity would release funds for the use of local government units for relief and rehabilitation efforts. It would also allow the acceptance of foreign aid.
