Leeds records the biggest jump in Covid cases in the last 24 hours

Leeds has recorded the highest number of Covid cases in the past 24 hours, with 533 new confirmed cases.

Two more deaths were also recorded by Leeds Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust.

There were 26 more deaths recorded by hospital trusts across the Yorkshire area, with the Sheffield Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust recording the most with six.

And more than 3,000 new cases of the virus have been confirmed across the county.

3,077 new cases of Covid have been confirmed in the last 24 hours.

Leeds had the largest increase in cases at this time, with 533; followed by Bradford who recorded 438.

York had the fewest cases in this time at just 52, but most of Yorkshire had more than 200 new cases.

  • Calderdale – was 6,548 now 6,808 (+149)

  • Rotherham – was 9,484 now 9,739 (+116)

  • Kirklees – was 15,469 now 16,152 (+295)

  • York – was 4,408 now 4,505 (+52)

  • Doncaster – was 10,091 now 10,405 (+135)

  • East Yorkshire: 7738, now 8212 (+231)

  • Hull – was 7,548 now 8,111 (+267)

26 more deaths from Covid-19 in Yorkshire hospitals

There have been 26 more deaths in Yorkshire hospitals.

Sheffield Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust had the highest number of deaths, with six; while Barnsley Hospital NHS Foundation Trust registered five.

Across England, another 132 people who tested positive for Covid have died, bringing the total number of confirmed deaths reported in English hospitals to 36,322.

Of the deaths reported in the past 24 hours, the patients were between 45 and 100 years old, and all but one (69 years) had known underlying diseases.
