Girl born with the help of rescuers amid growing floods in Tuguegarao

MANILA, Philippines – Rescuers helped a mother deliver her baby on Saturday as floodwaters continued to rise in the city of Tuguegarao in Cagayan province, one of the areas hardest hit by Typhoon Ulysses.

According to local police, the baby was born with the help of staff from the Tuguegarao city police station.

“A healthy baby was born on Saturday … amid rising water in Brgy. Bagay, Tuguegarao City, “TCPS said in a Facebook post.

“[T]The woman was assisted and rescued by TCPS personnel, ”he added.

Ulysses, the 21st cyclone to hit the country this year, caused massive flooding in parts of Luzon, including Metro Manila.

It also caused flooding in the Cagayán valley, particularly in the Cagayán and Isabela provinces.

Authorities said the death toll from the typhoon has so far reached 67.
