Southeast Asian Games Dota 2 champion Adroit Esports closed its operations due to the continuing effect of the coronavirus pandemic.

The Cebu-based esports team broke the sad news through a lengthy Facebook post on Saturday.

“Everyone on the team made sacrifices to stay afloat, but the pandemic situation has led us to the inevitable,” he added.

Later composed of Marvin “Boombacs” Rushton, Bryle “cml” Alvizo, Mc Nicholson “Mac” Villanueva, Jun “Bok” Kanehara and John Anthony “Natsumi-” Vargas, Adroit burst onto the competitive scene when he nearly qualified for The International. 2019 after finishing third in the SEA playoffs.

Adroit went on to qualify for the CDM Chengdu Major, the first Major event of the DPC 2019-2020 season, where they finished 13-16.

Under the national esports team Sibol, Adroit clinched the gold medal at the SEA Games after achieving a landslide 3-2 win over a team from Thailand led by regional stars Anucha “Jabz” Jirawong and Nuengnara “23savage” Teeramahanon .

However, the team struggled in most subsequent tournaments before Natsumi and Bok left the team for Zerothreetwo Dota.

Adroit chose Justine Ryan “Tino” Grimaldo and Nikko “Nikko” Bilocura as replacements, but the team still struggled to find their rhythm.

Last August, Adroit was also forced by the health crisis to release its team Valorant, which racked up numerous local and regional titles. Bren Esports took over the lineup.

“We started with Adroit small but with big goals for the future. A few championships but with honor, we raise the banner of SEA, PH and Cebuano Dota. We once entered the Valorant competitive scene and it was filled with numerous championships. All things, big or small, come to an end. ”

Adroit expressed its gratitude to its current and former players, staff, sponsors and supporters.

“Thanks for being a part of The Frenzy.”
