It’s probably what you’d expect to have the least trouble with, but when I got my PS5 I definitely had a bit of trouble getting on. It’s a fairly complex installation process, and it’s something Sony has obviously given a lot of thought, but it’s far from just giving it up and ending the day.
HOW TO PUT ON THE PS5 STAND
If you are looking for a video, you can watch our unboxing (it happens at approximately 3:30). Get comfortable with the fact that it took five to try and get on the stand.
HOW TO PUT THE PS5 STAND IN A HORIZONTAL POSITION
Placing the PS5 stand in a horizontal position is much easier than in a vertical position. You just want to align the two prongs on the stand with the PlayStation symbols on the back of the console. You should feel like it grips perfectly when you are in the right place.
Note that it will still slide a bit in this position. It does not lock to the point that if you move the console it will not slide.
HOW TO PLACE THE PS5 STAND IN A VERTICAL POSITION
This is where things get a little tricky and where I had to go back and watch the teardown video for it to work. It appears in the quick start manual, but it’s still a bit confusing for my liking.
First, you will need a flat blade screwdriver. You will see a small black button at the bottom of the console that you can pull out with your finger or the screwdriver. You want to put this in the hole in the middle of the bracket (it is magnetic so it should go straight in).
Grab your bracket, and then you’ll want to grab where the hooks are and twist it until the little hidden hole that gives you a screw is revealed.
Next, you want to hook the bracket to the bottom rear of your PS5. You want to screw it in with your flat-head screwdriver (a coin works too) until it’s snug but not too tight.
That’s. Now go and enjoy your PS5.
