Ronald Pascual’s brother seeks help for former PBA player

CALVIN Abueva and Ian Sangalang have been breaking it inside Clark’s bubble, leading their respective teams to the 2020 PBA Philippines Cup quarter-finals.

But somewhere in Manila, the last piece from San Sebastian’s famous ‘Pinatubo Trio’ is looking for direction after losing ground and “hitting rock bottom.”

Ronald Pascual urgently needs support, according to a post by his brother that is circulating on social media.

“Currently, my brother, Ronald Pascual, is in the deepest and saddest stage of his life. Overwhelmed by his pride and depression, he does not want to accept any help from his family. His closest friends who were with him when he was still alive. everything would have gone along with their fortunes, “said Ronel Pascual’s post.

Pascual, 32, was selected third by San Miguel in the 2014 PBA Rookie Draft and won two titles with the Beermen in the 2015 Philippine and Governor’s Cup. The 6-foot-3 shooter later made stops at Star, GlobalPort and Blackwater, where it was released in 2017.

Alaska picked him up from the free-agent pool later that year and signed him to a short-term contract.

He posted 4.0 points on 43 percent shooting from deep, to go with 1.7 rebounds in 10.5 minutes through 12 games for the Aces that season, most recently in 2018.

Life, however, has been cruel to Pascual since he left the league, and his brother shared that the player has led a nomadic existence ever since.

“He is somewhere in Metro Manila moving from one house to another, staying with whoever accepts him. Often, he calls us and asks us for a small amount of money to buy food,” he wrote.

“My brother cannot accept the things that have happened to him. He is afraid that people will judge or condemn him when he returns home here in Pampanga,” he said.

Pascual’s brother sought out the player’s friends and former teammates “asking for their prayer and support for him.”

“Financial support is not a factor at the moment, all you need is encouragement and emotional support! I think you have already hit rock bottom and now, the only way is up!

“I think now is the time for you to get out of your miserable situation and go home here in Pampanga! Again, I ask for your support, love and prayers for my brother,” he said.
