MANILA, Philippines – Parts of the Bicol region may begin to feel the strong winds and rain from Tropical Storm Ulysses on Wednesday morning, the state meteorological office said.
Forecasts from the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (Pagasa) on Tuesday afternoon showed that even Metro Manila and parts of southern Luzon will experience the same conditions in the afternoon.
The northern areas will also have strong winds and rain, but it will be due to the end of a cold front, according to Pagasa, adding that the Ulysses depression will also bring rain over the Visayas, while Mindanao is forecast to see a generally fair Wednesday. .
Pagasa said cold weather may persist due to current conditions, with temperatures in Legazpi and Tacloban dropping to around 24° C up to 29° C, Tuguegarao with 22° C to 27° C, Metro Manila with 24° C up to 30° C, and Laoag and Tagaytay up to 28° C.
In the Visayas, Iloilo and Cebu will have temperatures that will range between 24° C up to 31° C while in Mindanao, Davao will feel it around 24° C up to 33° C, Zamboanga at 25° C up to 33° C, and Cagayán de Oro at 24° C up to 32° C.
The entire coastline of northern Luzon was put under a gale warning due to the northeast monsoon or amihan. A similar advisory was also raised for the coasts of Central Luzon, Southern Luzon, Bicol Region and Eastern Visayas.
According to Pagasa, the sea conditions will be harsh or very rough due to Ulysses and the prevailing amihan.
Ulises was last seen 375 kilometers northeast of Virac, Catanduanes. Pagasa said it could progress like a typhoon before hitting the Bicol region or Quezon province on Wednesday.
