Pangasinan Journalist Killed in Gun Attack

A journalist based in Villasis, Pangasinan was shot and killed by yet unidentified assailants Tuesday morning, police said.

The victim, Virgilio Maganes, a resident of Barangay San Blas, worked for a local newspaper.

The gunmen riding a motorcycle fired six shots at the victim as he entered his residence complex around 6:45 a.m., police said.

The victim was killed instantly, while the assailants fled south.

Police have yet to determine the motive for the attack, but the victim first survived an ambush in 2016.
