MANILA, Philippines – Gunfire was heard inside the maximum security compound of New Bilibid Prison as another free-for-all fight is seen on video between members of warring gangs.
The maximum security compound houses people deprived of liberty sentenced to 20 years in prison. Regular raids are conducted inside the facilities to ensure that there are no prohibited items such as mobile phones, knives and firearms inside the prisons.
The video, however, showed that there were shots coming from inside the building where the prisoners are held.

Justice Secretary Menardo Guevarra said he will order the National Investigations Office to conduct a parallel investigation or expand its investigation to include the recent tumult.
Last month, a riot also broke out inside the compound that killed nine inmates.
