MANILA, Philippines – The country’s new coronavirus disease case count is close to hitting the 400,000 mark after the Department of Health (DOH) recorded an additional 2,058 infections.
According to the DOH update, new COVID-19 cases increased the national count to 398,449 as of November 9. Of this sum, 7.3% or 29,018 are labeled “active.”
The health agency also said that 182 more patients recovered from the illness caused by the latest strain of coronavirus, SARS-CoV-2, while another 52 died, increasing total recoveries to 361,784 and the death toll to 7,647, respectively.
Rizal province recorded the most new infections with 103 new COVID-19 cases, the DOH said, followed by Davao with 81, Maguindanao with 81, Quezon City with 77 and Cavite with 76.
DOH also said it removed four duplicates from the total, including three cases of recoveries. It added that 33 cases previously labeled as recovered were reclassified as death.
