Metro Manila (CNN Philippines, November 8) – Former Philippine ambassador to Brazil, Marichu Mauro, will be indicted Monday for allegedly abusing her Filipino domestic helper, according to Foreign Secretary Teodoro “Teddy Boy” Locsin, Jr.
“A formal charge will be made on Monday; it’s already on my laptop,” the country’s top diplomat said in a tweet on Saturday. He added that later a panel will test Mauro.
The ex-envoy was called to Manila for an investigation after GloboNews from the Brazilian media broadcast videos showing her apparent mistreatment of her domestic worker in several cases.
In the clips, Mauro can be seen hitting the assistant’s head with the palm of his hand, twisting his ear and throwing a mop at him.

Following a formal directive from Malacañang, Locsin formed an investigative team and said the Department of Foreign Relations remains determined to respond to the case “in accordance with and to the fullest extent of the law.”
The assistant is now back in her hometown in Koronadal City, South Cotabato. Locsin previously said that the DFA sent him $ 200,000 as financial aid.
