Former players from the University of Santo Tomas Growling Tigers set up a mini meeting inside the PBA bubble in Clark, Pampanga.

Celebrating with a packed lunch at the Quest Hotel in Mimosa, NorthPort’s Kevin Ferrer, Blackwater’s Ed Daquioag, San Miguel’s Louie Vigil and Geneva’s Aljon Mariano were all smiles for the camera even though they are now rivals on the side. opposite of the court.

“#Onceatigeralwaysatiger,” Ferrer wrote on his Instagram story Saturday, tagging his UST teammates.

The four last met at UAAP during season 77 in 2016, in which UST finished sixth under coach Bong Dela Cruz.

Mariano was in his last year as a player at the time, Ferrer and Daquioag with one year to play and Vigil in his third season.

The Tigers rallied the following year, this time led by Ferrer and Daquioag, who were included in the Mythical Team selection, and returned to the playoffs with a two-shot lead in first place with an 11-3 record.

Far Eastern University rivals Tamaraws also ended up with the same win-loss list, but they only came in next to UST due to the quotient rule.

The two teams eventually met in the best-of-three Finals with FEU beating UST to capture the UAAP 78th season title.

After college, Ferrer had teamed up with Mariano in Geneva before being traded to NorthPort, while Daquioag was recruited by the Meralco Bolts before jumping to the Rain or Shine Elasto Painters and then the Blackwater Elite.

Vigil and Mariano remained with their teams, San Miguel and Ginebra respectively, since they began their careers at the PBA.

Another Tiger is also up to the task in rookie Renzo Subido, who joins his older Ferrer at NorthPort.
