MANILA, Philippines – The low-pressure area (LPA) west of Sorsogon became the Tonyo Tropical Depression on Saturday night, the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration said.
“At 8:00 pm tonight, the low pressure area west of Sorsogon became tropical depression #TonyoPH,” Pagasa said in a Facebook post.

Pagasa said the tropical cyclone No. 1 wind signal will rise over areas “near or along the forecast track.”
Earlier, forecasters predicted that the tropical depression will bring rain over most of Luzon, including Metro Manila on Sunday.
