RAMON “El Bicolano” González tapped with Indonesian wrestler Eko Roni Saputra and suffered his second consecutive loss at One: Inside the Matrix 2.
One: Inside the Matrix 2 is a previously recorded event from the Singapore Indoor Stadium.
González suffered the same fate as fellow Filipino mixed martial arts (MMA) partner Eduard Folayang, as both gentlemen were unable to execute their game plan and both ended up playing their opponents’ game.
The Filipino karateka only lasted 4:07 in the first round against his Indonesian opponent as he was quickly knocked to the ground. And from there, Saputra was in control of the game.
González tried to do something from his back, but Saputra showed tremendous wrestling and shots from the top, preventing all of González’s attempts from coming back.
Eventually, Saputra took control of González’s back and locked himself in a strange but effective and rare naked choke, prompting a swift exit from the Pinoy fighter.
This is now Gonzalez’s second straight loss after being out of the One Circle for nearly a year.
His last fight was in November last year at One: Age of Dragons, where he suffered a unanimous decision loss to Getu Hexi of China.
Gonzalez now slides to 4-4.
He is now the second Filipino to lose in the One: Inside the Matrix event. The first was Folayang when he lost to Antonio Caruso in the first edition of the event not long ago.
