Together Nakatani derailed Giemel Magramo’s championship aspirations when the Japanese slugger scored a resounding stoppage victory over the Filipino boxer to retain his WBO flyweight belt on Friday night at the historic Korakuen Hall in Tokyo, Japan.

Magramo had intended to become the 44th Filipino to capture a world boxing title, but Nakatani came to spoil the party by overwhelming the 26-year-old Parañaque City native with incessant power punches from bell to bell.

From the get-go, Nakatani made Magramo feel the snap of his punches, staggering the Elorde Boxing rep with his left right near the last minute of the opening bell.

Magramo’s misery lingered into the second stanza, where Nakatani began hitting the waist with spade hooks as he waited for an escape to hit his heavy left hand.

Despite having both the size and reach advantage, Nakatani shifted his focus in the third frame while participating in phone exchanges with Magramo. The Pinoy boxer seized the opportunity, landing a couple of shots to the body.

However, that didn’t faze the Japanese champion as he fearlessly traded leather with his challenger in close quarters until the sixth round.

It was in the seventh round that Nakatani created the separation once more, using his long arms for a few inches away before launching his strong left fist that sent Magramo staggering.

In the eighth round, Magramo looked ready for the pick when Nakatani sent him to the mat with a right hook and then a follow-up left uppercut.

Magramo managed to get to his feet before the count of ten, but referee Nobuto Ikehara decided that the Filipino had seen enough and stopped the contest.

With the one-sided victory over Magramo, Nakatani kept his immaculate record intact. His list is now 21-0 with 16 knockouts.

On the other hand, Magramo fell to 24-2 and tasted his first loss in nearly four years.
