The Philadelphia 76ers signed general manager Elton Brand to a multi-year contract extension, The Athletic reported Sunday.
Terms of the deal were not disclosed for Brand, whose current contract would expire after the 2020-21 season.
Brand, 41, replaced Bryan Colangelo as the 76ers general manager in September 2018. Brand will work with Daryl Morey, who will be formally introduced as the team’s new president of basketball operations.
Monday.
Under Brand’s supervision, the 76ers were eliminated in Kawhi Leonard’s final second in Game 7 of the Eastern Conference semifinals against Toronto in 2019. Philadelphia was unceremoniously swept by Boston in a first-round series in 2020.
Brand played in 17 seasons after being listed as the first overall pick in the 1999 NBA Draft. He played in 263 games in two periods for the 76ers, retiring after 17 games with Philadelphia in 2015-16. – Reuters
