Attention online sellers: Google and Lazada launch free training in digital skills

MANILA – Search engine giant Google and e-commerce player Lazada have teamed up to offer free training courses for online marketers to boost their digital skills and help make sales this holiday season, the firms said in a joint statement on Monday.

The short training courses are available to all traders on the Lazada University portal and on the Grow with Google website, while the interactive mini-courses can be accessed through the Google Primer app.

“E-commerce has become an integral part of daily life for millions of people in Southeast Asia, and with more people shopping from home, we want to empower small businesses with the skills to thrive in this online environment,” he said Ben King, director of Google. .

“We have committed to training 3 million SME workers in Southeast Asia in digital skills and have already trained 2 million people,” he added.

The training courses will cover topics such as business strategy and digital marketing for small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs).

Lazada merchants can access training courses and stream learning sessions from Google experts on the Lazada University portal.

The upcoming shopping festivals on 11/11 and 12/12 are also expected to boost sales.
