MANILA – The state meteorological office PAGASA warned on Sunday night of possible storm surges in the coastal areas of Zambales, Bataan and Occidental Mindoro due to Typhoon Rolly (international name Goni).

In its storm surge warning at 11 pm, PAGASA warned of storm surges of up to 2 meters, which can cause moderate to significant damage to communities, infrastructure and disruptions to all ocean-related activities, in the following areas:

    – San Antonio
    – Saint Narcissus
    – San Felipe
    – Branch
    – Botolan

    – Masinloc
    – Candelaria
    – Santa Cruz

  • Bataan

  • Occidental Mindoro

PAGASA said that it is recommended to evacuate residents of low-lying coastal areas in those municipalities.

All marine activities must also be canceled.

At 10 p.m., Rolly was estimated to be 50 kilometers northwest of the town of Calapan, Oriental Mindoro, with maximum winds of 85 kilometers near the center, with gusts of 105 kilometers per hour.
