MANILA, Philippines – Between 19 and 31 million people could be displaced by super typhoon Rolly, the National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council (NDRRMC) said on Sunday.
“Our predictive analysis po reflects between 19M [million] – 31 million people [possibly] be affected by the storm based on population counts in areas within the typhoon’s path. However, Hindi po separates people who live in danger zones from those who are not, ”NDRRMC spokesman Mark Timbal told reporters.
The latest data from the state meteorological office showed that Super Typhoon Rolly, the world’s strongest typhoon this year, has maximum sustained winds of 225 kilometers per hour (kph) near the center and gusts of up to 310 kph.

The alteration of the weather, at 8 am on Sunday, occurred in the vicinity of Tiwi, Albay.
The NDRRMC previously said that nearly 1 million people in the Bicol region had been preemptively evacuated hours before the super typhoon made landfall.
