The NDRRMC also underwent “Pre-Disaster Risk Assessments to ensure that all local government units and communities are prepared for potential typhoon impacts in areas prone to landslides, floods, storm surge and lahar flows.” said Roque.

Malacañang also asked the public to remain calm but to stay updated and attentive by consulting the latest official weather alerts.

The typhoon, which goes by the international name Goni, is expected to pass through the southeastern part of Luzon in the early hours of Sunday before making landfall in the afternoon.

The state meteorological office said Rolly has maximum sustained winds of 215 kph near the center and gusts of up to 265 kph.

Forecasters said Rolly was last seen 410 kilometers east northeast of Virac, Catanduanes.
