ALMOST 2,000 new cases of coronavirus disease (Covid-19) were reported in the country on Saturday, October 31.
The Department of Health (DOH) said in its case bulletin Saturday that 1,803 new coronavirus infections were reported, bringing the total number of confirmed cases to 380,729.
The areas with the highest number of new cases are Rizal (97), Davao City (93), Quezon City (86), Cavite (66) and Pasig City (65).
The DOH also reported 36 more deaths, bringing the death toll to 7,221, as of 4 p.m. on Saturday, October 31.
This also means that the country now has a fatality rate of 1.90 percent, the DOH said.
Regarding the number of people who recovered from the disease, the DOH announced a total of 331,046 recoveries from Covid-19 with the 606 new survivors reported on Saturday.
This means that 87 percent of people infected with the new coronavirus have been able to recover, the health department added.
Globally, 44,888,869 confirmed cases of Covid-19 have already been reported in at least 219 areas in the world. Of this number, 1,178,475 have died, the World Health Organization said. (HDT / SunStar Philippines)
