Pangilinan: deport all illegal aliens, including Chinese citizens

MANILA, Philippines – Senator Francis “Kiko” Pangilinan calls for the arrest of foreigners, including Chinese citizens, who entered the Philippines illegally.

In a statement posted on the official Senate website, Pangilinan said that undesirable foreigners should be deported after legal proceedings.

“Since it has been established through testimonial evidence that tens of thousands of these Chinese nationals entered the country by illegal means, they must be arrested and deported immediately,” said Pangilinan.

“Illegal citizens take jobs from Filipinos, steal taxes from the government and possibly put our national security at risk.”

In 2019, the Immigration Office arrested 2,000 foreigners, most of whom were Chinese citizens who entered the Philippines illegally.

Furthermore, the so-called “pill scheme” allowed Chinese nationals to illegally enter the Philippines with foreigners who entered the country without proper background checks in exchange for bribes.

Commonwealth Law 613, as amended by Republic Law 503, sets the provisions on deportation of foreigners and Pangilinan considers this legislation to be the toughest measure for the removal of illegal aliens.

“Foreign nationals who have circumvented immigration laws in collusion with corrupt immigration employees have lost their right to stay in the country and therefore must be immediately arrested and deported,” said Pangilinan, who is also a lawyer.
