TYPHOON “Quinta” (international name: “Molave”) had left 16 people dead in its wake, while the extent of damage to agriculture and infrastructure had risen to more than P700 million nationwide, the National Management Council and Disaster Risk Reduction (NDRRMC) reported Thursday.
In its status report, the NDRRMC placed Quinta’s damages to life and property at P736 million and this extends to the regions of Ilocos, Central Luzón, Calabarzon (Cavite, Laguna, Batangas, Rizal, Quezon), Mimaropa ( Mindoro, Marinduque, Romblon, Palawan), Bicol and Western Visayas.
In the Ilocos region, the NDRRMC reported agricultural damages worth P4,894 million, while in Central Luzon, the damage to infrastructure was P8 million.
Calabarzon, on the other hand, has P573,111 million in agricultural crops felled, while P20 million in infrastructure needs to be rehabilitated.
Mimaropa has registered damages to the infrastructure for a value of P2.8 million, while in Bicol, agricultural damages have been registered for a value of P92.2 million.
Agricultural products worth 35 million pesos were lost to the typhoon in Western Visayas.
The partially damaged houses reached 27,213, while 2,315 were totally destroyed.
Infrastructure facilities include public buildings, along with some schools, health facilities, government facilities, and places of worship.
Victims
Sixteen people lost their lives as a result of Typhoon Quinta in various regions.
According to the NDRRMC, two were from Calabarzon, seven from Mimaropa, five from the Bicol region and two from western Visayas.
The NDRRMC also recorded 22 wounded and four were still missing.
Some 57,742 families or 242,220 people in the Central Luzon, Calabarzon, Mimaropa, Western Visayas and Eastern Visayas regions were displaced or made homeless by the typhoon.
