MANILA, Philippines – A magnitude 4.5 earthquake struck Batangas and was felt in other areas, including Muntinlupa and Quezon City, on Thursday, the Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (Phivolcs) said.
Phivolcs said the earthquake occurred at 1:25 p.m., eight kilometers northwest of the town of Mabini.
The earthquake was of tectonic origin and had a depth of focus of two kilometers.
State seismologists said the shaking was felt in other areas at various intensities:
- Instrumental Intensity IV- Calatagan, Batangas; Tagaytay City
- Instrumental Intensity II- Muntinlupa City
- Instrumental Intensity I- Quezon City; Carmona and Bacoor City, Cavite; Mauban, Quezon
No aftershocks or damage were expected from the earthquake, Phivolcs added.
