MANILA, Philippines – Tropical Storm Goni could enter the Philippine Area of Responsibility (PAR) this Thursday morning or afternoon as state meteorologists monitor another Low Pressure Area (LPA) outside the country’s territory.
The center of Tropical Storm Goni, which will be called “Rolly” once it enters PAR, was last sighted 1,705 kilometers east of central Luzon, according to the weather update issued by the Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration. from the Philippines (Pagasa) at 4 am
It is moving west at 10 kilometers per hour and has maximum sustained winds of 65 kilometers per hour near the center and gusts of 80 kilometers per hour. Pagasa said that for now, the tropical cyclone has no effect on weather conditions in the country.
“It is possible that it will move west and then into the Bicol Region area, and cross land so it is possible that it will make landfall on November 1. That is Sunday and will enter PAR this morning or later in the afternoon”. Pagasa climate specialist Ezra Bulquerin said.
(You can move west and then into the Bicol Region area, then cross land, so your possible landfall is November 1. That is, Sunday. You can enter PAR this morning or afternoon).
“It will move west towards the Bicol region on Sunday and then it will cross land and then exit in the southern Luzon area,” he added.
Meanwhile, the LPA, which Bulquerin said could also enter PAR, was last seen 2,550 kilometers east of Mindanao.
For the weather forecast, Pagasa said that Caraga and the Davao region will have cloudy skies with scattered showers and thunderstorms due to the intertropical convergence zone (ITCZ).
The ITCZ is where winds from the northern and southern hemispheres converge, bringing clouds that cause rain in the affected areas.
Meanwhile, Ilocos Norte, Apayao, Batanes and Cagayan, including the Babuyan Islands, will experience cloudy skies with scattered rains due to wind flow on the northeast surface.
Metro Manila and the rest of the country, on the other hand, will have partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated showers due to localized thunderstorms.
