SMART CLARK GIGA CITY – Blackwater cannot help but be concerned about the situation of one of its players despite the fact that it is already considered a false positive case within the PBA bubble.
At the same time, the Elite are very confused after their game in the Philippine Cup was suspended again for the second time in a row on Wednesday.
Coach Nash Racela said he noticed the team getting more restless each day, especially after their scheduled game against Magnolia Hotshots was shelved at the last minute for another date.
The league postponed the game pending IATF approval.
“I get frustrated na hanging kami day by day,” said Racela, whose team spent the day practicing.

The waiting game comes at a time when one of the Blackwater players remained in the New Clark City quarantine facility after becoming a suspected COVID-19 case.
Since then, the player had been declared negative after the antigen test and the confirmatory RT-PCR test. While he may rejoin the team, the player still has to complete his 10-day isolation in the quarantine facility as per IATF protocol.

Naturally, the Elite are concerned about the condition of one of their family members.
“It is not really easy for us to deal with the situation knowing that one of us, even though he already has negative results from his antigen and RT-PRC tests, still remains in the isolation facility at the risk of acquiring the virus” Racela said.
Shortly after the player became a suspect, Blackwater’s scheduled game against Rain or Shine was also postponed, causing the team to miss two games in a four-day span.
Except for one player, the entire Elite team tested negative.
Blackwater will have its regular, mandatory team RT-PCR test on Thursday as part of the league’s health protocol.
Team manager Jacob Munez said the Elite try to have a video call with their player from the quarantine facility every day to help lift his spirits.
“Of course, we are worried about him because he is far from us and he is not,” he said. “But of course we have to comply with the protocols.”

Racela could only hope that her player’s period of isolation would soon end and that the Elite could finally resume their campaign.
“Our prayer is that (the player) will be allowed to leave the facility as soon as possible, away from confirmed positive patients, so that we can all be sure of their safety.”
Blackwater is 2-3 (win-loss) before the team’s bubble came to a brief hiatus.
