MANILA, Philippines – The 2,053 new infections reported on Wednesday brought the country’s total COVID-19 cases to more than 375,000.
According to the most recent data from the Department of Health (DOH), the national count is now 375,180, including 38,995 “active” cases.
The DOH also reported that an additional 540 patients recovered from the disease, while 61 more died, bringing the recoveries and death toll to 329,111 and 7,114 respectively.
The DOH said that 83 percent of the 38,995 active cases are mild, while 11.1 percent are asymptomatic, 3.8 percent are critical and 2.2 percent are severe.
Caloocan was identified as the upper area with the highest number of new cases at 108, followed by Quezon City at 103, Negros Occidental at 97, Benguet at 93, and Rizal at 85.
DOH also said it found and removed 17 duplicates – of which 14 were recoveries – of the total count of cases; and that there were 17 cases labeled as recoveries, but later reclassified as death cases.
