The shortened season of the Philippine Soccer League will begin on Wednesday after its original opening was postponed due to positive COVID-19 cases within the bubble and inclement weather caused by Typhoon Depression Fifth.

The PFL made the announcement in a statement Sunday night, adding that a revised version of the league’s schedule will be released the next day.

Games were supposed to start on Sunday at the Philippine Football Federation National Training Center in Carmona, Cavite, but PFL officials delayed the first match due to the weather situation and RT-PCR testing of nine people. that yielded positive results.

PFL said that all of the two clubs where positive results came back inside the Nuvali Seda in Sta. Rosa, Laguna tested negative after undergoing antigen tests on Sunday.

Both teams will undergo the same testing procedure every other day, while the rest will undergo antigen testing during the days leading up to the match.
