FILIPINO golfer Bianca Pagdanganan positioned herself to win a title in her first Ladies Professional Golf Association (LPGA) season heading into the final round of the LPGA Driving On Championship-Reynolds in Greensboro, Georgia on Monday (Manila time).

Ms. Pagdanganan, 22, shot a 3-under-69 in the third round of the tournament on Sunday to bring her total to 12-under-204, just when she was a notch below current leader Ally McDonald (13- low-203) from the United States. with a round to play.

It was a continuation of his impressive performance in the first two rounds of the LPGA Driving On Championship, part of his debut campaign on the LPGA Tour.

In the previous two rounds, he scored 68 and 67 to be among the leaders.

In fact, she took the lead in the third round after birdying the second hole before bogeys on the third and fifth holes slowed her down.

But Ms. Pagdanganan regained her footing the rest of the way to stay a surprising distance from the top spot.

If she succeeds in earning the LPGA Driving On, I would highlight an event last year for her, including winning a gold medal for the Philippines in the 30th Southeast Asian Games.

Rounding out the top five heading into the final round are Danielle Kang (205) from the United States, Carlota Ciganda (206) from Spain and Katherine Kirk (207) from Australia. – Michael Angelo S. Murillo
