CITY OF LEGAZPI – More than 600 passengers were stranded in seaports in the Bicol region on Sunday due to the threat of severe tropical storm Quinta.
The Philippine Coast Guard (PCG) in Bicol reported that at 12 noon, 127 passengers in the ports of Albay, 31 in Masbate and 519 in Sorsogon remained stranded after the cancellation of ferry trips due to heavy rains and strong winds.
At least 302 rolling loads, 37 fishing boats and 2 motorboats were also abandoned in various ports.
All ships were warned not to set sail since Saturday afternoon when “Quinta” approached the Bicol region.
