ACTRESS Assunta de Rossi gave birth to a healthy baby girl on Friday morning at the age of 37.
Named Guilia Florentina Alessandra, De Rossi and her husband Jules Ledesma, a former Congressman from Negros Occidental, welcomed their first-born son to the world in a hospital in the city of San Juan and nicknamed her Fiore. Meaning flower in Italian, the baby’s pet name is a nod to the roots of De Rossi’s father.
The couple had previously said that De Rossi’s unexpected pregnancy was a wonderful and “miraculous” blessing as they had been trying to conceive for nearly two decades.
De Rossi’s sister, Alessandra, excitedly shared the first photo of mother and daughter on Instagram with the caption:
“This is the most beautiful photo of a lifetime! Little Fiore and tears of joy in my sister’s eyes. Almost 20 years in the making! Miracles happen every day, and this is the best! Congratulations @assuntaledesma @julesledesma and of course, to the new grandmother na mas or pa sa naganak, @ermatsko. Thank my Lord.”
According to entertainment columnist and talent manager Jun Lalin, De Rossi gave birth to Fiore by elective caesarean section at 38 weeks due to her delicate condition known as uterine myoma. Fiore weighed 5 pounds 12 oz.
It was in May that Assunta revealed that she was pregnant with a “miracle” baby, 16 years after marrying Ledesma.
In September, Assunta posted how extremely challenging her pregnancy has been.
“It’s difficult to have shortness of breath, pregnancy rhinitis and I also have claustrophobia Pennsylvania (further). Good and very kind teenager, I am not given a problem (It’s good that my baby is so good. He didn’t give me any problems). My good luck (I’m so lucky)! Everything is fine so (that’s why) smile still! Only a little left (Just a little more), ”she wrote on Instagram.
Assunta and Ledesma were married in civil rites in the city of San Carlos in December 2002 and had their church wedding at the Sanctuary of San Antonio in Forbes Park, Makati City in March 2004.
