Joe Biden maintains a large cash advantage in the final days of the campaign

And reports show that Biden spent more than the president in the final stretch of the campaign: Biden’s campaign alone raised $ 130 million during the first two weeks of October and spent more than $ 145 million. That’s a spending rate of more than $ 10 million per day for the two week period.

Trump, by comparison, raised nearly $ 43.6 million between Oct. 1 and Oct. 14 and spent $ 63.1 million, according to documents filed Thursday night with the Federal Election Commission.

The president’s political operation has struggled to compete financially with Biden in recent months, and Trump has targeted high-dollar fundraisers to shore up his cash position in the closing days of the presidential campaign.

On Thursday, just hours before the couple’s final confrontation on the debate stage, Trump made an appearance at a fundraising event in Nashville that was expected to raise $ 8 million for the campaign. On Friday, Trump campaign officials announced a $ 26 million raise around the debate for the campaign and affiliated Republican committees, marking the largest digital fundraising day in the re-election effort.

The president insists he has sufficient funds to prevail on November 3, as he did four years ago, even though then-rival Hillary Clinton spent more of it.

“We don’t need money,” Trump said during the debate Thursday night. “We have a lot of money. In fact, we beat Hillary Clinton with a small fraction of the money she could” raise.
