MANILA – The inaugural Miss Universe Philippines pageant held its preliminary competition on Friday, naming the winners of special awards.

Bringing together 46 candidates representing cities and provinces, the preliminary round was held at the Baguio Country Club on Friday morning and streamed online via KTX.ph later in the evening.

Miss Quezon City Michele Gumabao was named Miss MG Philippines, a sponsor award. KTX.ph

Three main components of the contest formed the preliminaries: the respective national costume, bathing suit, and evening dress competitions. Previously, the pageant conducted preliminary interviews.

Preliminary activities helped determine the 15 finalists, who will be named on coronation day on October 25, also in Baguio city.

Miss Mandaue Lou Dominique Piczon won the Best National Costume award. KTX.ph

The first Miss Universe Philippines champion under the new pageant organization will wear the newly revealed “Philippine” crown and will represent the country at the international Miss Universe pageant.

Gazini Ganados, the last Miss Universe national champion under the Binibining Pilipinas era of the pageant, will crown her successor.

Miss Iloilo City Rabiya Mateo won the award for Best Swimsuit. KTX.ph

  • Downy Sweetheart Award – Pauline Amelinckx, Bohol
  • Miss Cetaphil Sun – Pauline Amelinckx, Bohol
Miss Parañaque Maria Ysabella Ysmael won the award for Best Evening Dress. KTX.ph
  • Best National Costume: Lou Dominique Piczon, Mandaue
  • Miss Photogenic – Tracy Maureen Perez, Cebu City
  • Most Beautiful Face Award – Pauline Amelinckx, Bohol
  • Best Swimsuit – Rabiya Mateo, Iloilo City
  • Best Evening Dress – Maria Ysabella Ysmael, Parañaque
