MANILA, Philippines – UAAP has signed a five-year contract with Cignal TV for its exclusive broadcast rights beginning with the 83rd season, the league announced Friday.

This would be the first time that the UAAP will be broadcast live on the One Sports channel and on its digital and multimedia platforms.

“With its affiliated network, TV5, their combined experience in sports production provides UAAP with a solid foundation in its efforts to promote college sports in the country,” the league said in a statement.

“Despite current challenges, the league looks forward to the partnership as a new chapter that can take the UAAP to even greater heights.”

UAAP’s deal with ABS-CBN came to an end this year and the league had to find another broadcast partner to continue its broadcast over the Philippine airwaves.

ABS-CBN was UAAP’s broadcast partner since 1998 and the league’s games have been shown on the network’s youth channel Studio 23 which eventually became Sports + Action.
