MANILA, Philippines – While he insists he is not pointing out, the head of the Philippine Armed Forces Command (AFP), Lieutenant General Antonio Parlade Jr., now claims that actress Angel Locsin is “aware” of the alleged participation of his sister. Ella Colmenares in communist activities.

In an interview with ABS-CBN News Channel (ANC), Parlade, who is also a member of the National Task Force to End the Local Communist Armed Insurgency (NTF-ELCAC), was asked about his controversial comment where he warned the actress Liza Soberano after her participation in the Gabriela Youth group webinar, where she spoke on the issue of violence against women and children.

“The choice is yours, Liza. And so with you Catriona. Do not follow the path taken by Ka Ella Colmenares (Locsin) on the metro and NPA Quezon. I am sure that Angel Locsin and Neri Colmenares will not tell you this, ”Parlade said in the statement.

Faced with this comment, Parlade told the ANC: “Yes, and of that I am very sure because Ella Colmenares, she is part of the underground and operated in Quezon, especially in Isla Polilio.”

“In fact, she (Ella Colmenares) was nominated as the third Kabataan Partylist nominee. Unfortunately, they did not win a third seat in the 2007 elections, so now it is back on the grounds mentioned above, ”said Parlade.

“Now he is doing legal work with Gabriela again, recruiting members for Gabriela,” he added.

Parlade then added that Locsin and his uncle Neri Colmenares are aware of Ella’s activities.

“Angel Locsin and Neri Colmenares know, of course, and they are not going to tell Liza Soberano or Catriona Gray or any of the celebrities. Of course they will keep this information, ”Parlade said.

“They (Locsin’s family) showed us a photo of a family dinner. Of course, kasi above ground na ulit si Ella Colmenares ”, he added.

Host Karen Davila asked Parlade if Locsin knows that her sister, Ella, is involved in “communist activities.”

“Yes, but that is not a red tag. That’s just informing the public that a member of an underground organization is also associated with, of course, his sister. That’s not a red tag, ”Parlade said.

Parlade maintains her position even as Ella has already denied ties to communist groups like the New People’s Army (NPA).

In a post on Twitter Thursday, Ella said she was not supposed to defend herself but ultimately decided to speak up to clear things up, as her life and family may have been put in jeopardy by being tagged red.

“I don’t have to defend myself because I haven’t done anything wrong, but I decided to speak up, not only for myself, but also for my children, whose lives may have been in danger due to this reckless red label being spread on social media. “Said Ella Colmenares in her statement.

“Yes, I believe in protecting women’s rights and human rights, the same initiatives that Angel and Neri fight for, but so do millions of Filipinos across the country. That does not mean that he is a member of the NPA as is being claimed ”, he added.

Meanwhile, in a cryptic story posted by Locsin on Instagram, she greeted her younger brother, who is celebrating his birthday Thursday, noting that their sister, Ella, whom Parlade said went into hiding, is with them.
