BLACKPINK’s Lisa is the latest global brand ambassador for MAC Cosmetics

We are still high after watching BLACKPINK’s Netflix documentary, Light up the sky. Then we were more ecstatic when we got information that Lisa manobanMAC Cosmetics, the group’s lead dancer and rapper, was chosen as their new global brand ambassador.

Cosmopolitan Philippines was lucky enough to ask Lisa about makeup tips, using beauty to empower and make dreams come true. Check out their responses below:

What’s it like to be the latest MAC Cosmetics brand ambassador?

Lisa: I am a huge MAC fan and have been a loyal user for a long time, so it’s really a dream come true to have the opportunity to serve as a brand ambassador.

MAC is truly on the cutting edge of trend setting, which reminds me every time I see a MAC campaign or the amazing looks its artists create behind the scenes at fashion weeks around the world. It is an honor to partner with a brand with such an incredible heritage and unmatched expertise in the art of makeup. I am excited and looking forward to this trip!

What was your first MAC product?

Lisa: The first MAC product I used was a lip product. I remain a huge fan of MAC lip products and love playing with the myriad of colors and textures to choose from to help perfect my appearance.

When did you realize your love for makeup? What you love?

Lisa: Since I was little, I have always been interested in makeup and fashion. But if I had to say the time that I officially fell in love with makeup, I’d say it was after my debut. When we release a new album, when I’m on the set of a magazine, I enjoy suggesting a makeup style that I’ve always wanted to try.

How is your usual makeup routine?

Lisa: I usually enjoy natural makeup. I like to start with a simple foundation and finish with a slightly bolder lip color to add some vibrancy. Especially for lip makeup, I like to make an ombre lip that naturally graduates by touching the center of my lips!

Where do you get your makeup inspiration from?

Lisa: I constantly review various makeup styles for inspiration. When I’m in session, I like to suggest makeup styles that I was eager to try. I enjoy working together with the makeup artist to finalize my look through different attempts to eventually adjust to the mood that I am trying to express in the shoot.

We know you like taking photos with film cameras. Can you share some tips on how to look good in pictures?

Smooth: Due to the texture of the film grains, the photos produced by a film camera are less sharp, unlike digital cameras. This is why I often draw my eye line a little thicker and bolder than usual to make my eye line look clearer in the pictures.

What does beauty mean to you and has it been an empowering tool?

Lisa: For me, beauty is confidence. I believe that beauty comes from the confident inner self andattitude. Makeup and hairstyle are the cherries on top of your beautiful inner self!

What would you say to those who dream of becoming like you one day?

Lisa: Never give up on your dreams, no matter how painful and difficult your journey is. If you trust yourself and fight for it to the end, your dreams will come true. You can do it!
