A 5.4 magnitude earthquake struck Occidental Mindoro early Saturday morning, the Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (Phivolcs) said.
He said the quake occurred 21 kilometers northeast of the city of Looc around 4:06 a.m.
Phivolcs boss Renato Solidum told The Manila Times that the earthquake was of tectonic origin with a depth of 12 km.
The offices of the National Council for Disaster Risk Management and Reduction in both Mindoro provinces reported no damage or casualties.
According to the Phivolcs bulletin under the Department of Science and Technology, the earthquake was felt with intensity 4 in Calatagan, Batangas and Tagaytay City in Cavite.
Intensity 3 was felt in Carmona, Cavite, Marialo, Bulacan and Talisay in Batangas.
Meanwhile, Intensity 2 was felt in Plaridel, Ciudad Malolos, Calumpit and San Rafael in Bulacan; Puerto Galera, Oriental Mindoro; City of Bacoor; City of Marikina; City of Muntinlupa; City of Las Piñas; and Quezon City.
Solidum said damage was unlikely, but that aftershocks were possible.
He also said there was no threat of a tsunami.
