BARANGAY Geneva coach Tim Cone realized how Blackwater coach Nash Racela has transformed the Elite immediately in his first conference with the team.

Cone said he is no longer surprised that the Elite are doing well at the conference. And even though Barangay Geneva defeated Blackwater last Thursday, Cone was impressed with the performance of the Elite.

“I thought Nash was a great coach when he was coaching Talk ‘N Text,” Cone said. “I was always impressed with the way their teams will prepare and the way they interpret the defense. They read the defense very, very well. “

Blackwater earned its second win in three starts Saturday when Elite defeated NLEX, 98-88. The Elite once again used the third quarter as a springboard to victory, beating the Road Warriors, 35-16.

Although his team won the contest, Cone admitted that Barangay Geneva had a difficult task of containing Blackwater in the third quarter which showed the Elite score of 39 points in that contest.

“We had a bad time, especially in the second half. They went out, they did to NorthPort the same thing they did to us. That great third quarter, I’m really impressed with the way they played the defense and reacted really well and made the right passes. We were fighting most of the night, ”Cone said.

When asked about Cone’s remarks on Saturday, Racela said that she actually had the opportunity to speak with the Barangay Geneva coach the morning after the game.

“It’s something that I really appreciate coming from a veteran coach in Tim Cone, the most successful coach we have in the PBA. The next morning after our game I was able to talk to him in the pool area and heard some positive things from him. That gives me a lot of encouragement as a coach. Although I’m not looking forward to receiving those compliments from other people, I do appreciate them from time to time. But I know who my biggest audience is. We play, we train, we live for the audience of one who is God, ”said Racela.

“But thank you, Coach Tim. I also want to hear it from time to time, ”he added.
