Poy Erram himself admitted that it is still a work in progress, particularly when it comes to keeping his emotions in check.
He made a debut to forget for TNT in the 2020 PBA Philippine Cup comeback on Sunday after being sent off in the game against Alaska.
He was sent off late in the third quarter for a technical foul, which followed the flagrant one with which he was slapped early in the game.
The 6ft 7in slot is still grateful to have Tropang GIGA veterans around him, helping him to be better at staying calm.
And since that TNT-Alaska game, it appears that Erram has taken the guidance of the team’s senior statesmen very seriously.
On Friday night, the 31-year-old unloaded a career-high 27 points and 15 rebounds to lead his team’s 107-88 mistreatment of San Miguel Beer.
That performance helped Tropang GIGA to its third victory in as many games. They have also achieved pole position in the team classification.
TNT was coming off its 112-101 conquest of Terra Firma last Tuesday, where Erram finished with 14 markers on 5 of 9 shots.
“The veterans are helping us, especially me.” said the seven-year-old professional from the Ateneo de Manila in the exit interview.
“They are helping me because emotionally, I meditate talagang trying to improve pa”.
Tropang GIGA head coach Bong Ravena is pleased with Erram’s performances and says he finally knows what he means to the team.
“Sa first game niya, fight siya. Now maybe you already know his role, how we want him in the team, how important he is to the team.,” he said.
“Naka-fit na rin si Poy, so we’re glad he’s playing like this.
