Kings and Bolts collide in rematch of the 2019 Governors’ Cup finals – News | PBA

DESPITE his Barangay Geneva starting the PBA Philippine Cup bubble with back-to-back victories, coach Tim Cone still admits that he is not yet in full swing.

“We feel like we’re going to get better,” Cone said. “We’re not far … and I’m not talking about fitness. So if you can get them early and keep getting better and better later on, then you’ll have a better chance and get a good seed in the playoffs.”

That should be unpleasant news for Meralco, who will face Kings Sunday in last season’s Governors’ Cup finalists rematch at the Angeles University Foundation Sports Arena, powered by Smart 5G.

Even coach Norman Black, whose Bolts are seeking a second straight win in three games, has to agree that Guinevere already looks formidable even without Greg Slaughter and Japeth Aguilar and LA Tenorio still to reach their usually sharp playing form.

“They are always tough,” Black said. “They still have the size, not the size they normally are, but they have the talent … It will be a difficult match for us.
