MANILA, Philippines – The Philippines has recorded 2,673 additional cases of coronavirus disease (COVID-19), bringing the country’s total number of cases to 354,338.
As of 4 p.m. Saturday, the Department of Health (DOH) reported 52,423 active cases, which is 14 percent of the total COVID-19 infections nationwide.
Meanwhile, the total number of COVID-19 recoveries is now 295,312, including 539 more that have overcome respiratory illness.
The death toll from COVID-19 nationwide soared to 6,603 after the DOH reported 73 new deaths.
After validation, DOH modified its case load after removing 85 duplicates. Of that number, 78 were recoveries, while one was classified as death.
Additionally, 14 COVID-19 infections that were previously classified as recoveries turned out to be deaths.
Meanwhile, 14 molecular labs did not submit their data to the DOH’s COVID-19 Data Repository System (CDRS) on Oct. 16, the DOH said.
